Selective pallet racking is the industry-standard adjustable-beam system: front-and-rear beam pairs span between upright frames, and a forklift reaches any pallet from the aisle without moving another. That is what "100% selectivity" means — no shuffle, no LIFO constraint.
Because every pallet position is independently accessible, it is the default racking system for GTA warehouses with mixed-velocity SKUs, e-commerce fulfillment, and 50+ pallet moves per aisle per day. Beam levels are field-adjustable in 2" increments, so the system reconfigures as your SKU profile evolves.
The components, labeled.
Upright Frame
Two vertical posts joined by horizontal stiffeners and diagonal braces. The structural backbone — height + load capacity defined here. 14-13ga cold-rolled steel.
Step Beam
Horizontal load-bearing member. Front + rear pair per level supports pallets. Available in 96", 108", 120" lengths. Capacity: 2,000-5,000 lb per pair.
Diagonal Brace
Welded into the upright frame for lateral stability. Prevents rocking under load. Replaced whenever a frame is impacted — never bent back into place.
Footplate
Steel plate welded to the base of each upright post. Distributes load to the slab and accepts anchor bolts. Required by CSA A344-17 on every frame.
Wire Deck (Optional)
Welded-wire mesh deck on top of beams. Required where loose items, totes, or smaller-footprint pallets are stored. Improves fire sprinkler effectiveness.
Safety Pin (Beam Connector)
Locks beam to upright. Prevents accidental disengagement during loading. Required by CSA A344-17 — every beam, every connection.
Anchor Bolt
Wedge or sleeve anchor through footplate into slab. Two per footplate minimum. Embedment depth + slab thickness must meet manufacturer spec — every install engineer-checked.
