Cantilever racking.

Long-and-awkward storage. Lumber, pipe, steel bar, sheet goods. Single or double-sided. Indoor or galvanized for outdoor yards.

Single or double-sided To 5,000+ lb / arm Galvanized for outdoor yards Engineered to CSA A344-17
Why cantilever racking?

No front beam to work around.

Because lumber, pipe, steel, and sheet goods don't fit pallets. Cantilever arms eliminate the front beam that pallet racks force you to work around — loads are point-supported on horizontal arms, so a forklift drives straight in and pulls long stock off the open face.

Indoor or galvanized for outdoor yards. Single-sided against a wall, or double-sided down a centre column for two-aisle picking. The arm length, vertical spacing, and base depth are all sized to the material you store and the moment it puts on the column.

Anatomy

The components, labeled.

Six elements make up a cantilever bay. No front posts — the column, base leg and arms do all the work, so long loads slide in straight from the aisle face.

Cantilever racking anatomy — side elevation, single-sided column Side view of a cantilever column. A vertical column on a horizontal base leg carries adjustable arms that project from the column face — no front posts, so long loads like lumber, pipe and sheet lie across open arms. An optional arm lip stops roll-off. Columns are tied together behind by horizontal and X bracing. ← AISLE SIDE SIDE ELEVATION BRACING TO NEXT COLUMN NO FRONT POST — LONG LOADS SLIDE IN 1 2 3 4 5 6 1 Column 2 Arm (adjustable) 3 Arm lip 4 Base leg 5 Connector 6 Long load (pipe · lumber · sheet) Arms move in slot increments — no pallets DIAGRAM · cantilever racking — side elevation
1 · Column

Column

The vertical spine of the system, carrying arms on one or both faces. Every arm load travels down the column into the base leg and slab.

2 · Arm (Adjustable)

Arm (Adjustable)

Arms project from the column face and relocate in slot increments to re-pitch a level. The tips sit slightly high so loads settle toward the column.

3 · Arm Lip

Arm Lip

A raised lip at the arm tip stops round stock like pipe from rolling off. Specified per level based on what the arms carry.

4 · Base Leg

Base Leg

A horizontal leg projects from the column base on the load side. It counterbalances the cantilevered load and anchors the column to the slab.

5 · Connector

Connector

Each arm pins into the column's slotted face. The connection is what lets a level be repositioned without dismantling the rack.

6 · Long Load

Long Load

With no front posts, loads of any length lie across consecutive open arms. Pipe, lumber, and sheet slide in straight from the aisle face.

Where cantilever racking wins.

Lumber yards

Long boards & planks

Long boards, planks, and dimensional lumber. Cantilever arms eliminate the front beam that pallet racks force you to work around.

Steel + pipe

Bar stock & tubing

Bar stock, tubing, pipe, structural shapes. Galvanized cantilever stands up to outdoor yard conditions.

Sheet goods

Plywood & drywall

Plywood, drywall, MDF, plastic sheets. Decked cantilever prevents sheet sag and slip-through — common in millwork shops.

Best for

Where cantilever earns its keep.

Lumber yards stacking long boards and dimensional stock. Steel and pipe distributors running bar, tube, and structural shapes — galvanized for the outdoor yard. Millwork and building-supply shops with plywood, drywall, and sheet goods that need decked arms. Anywhere the load is long, awkward, and won't sit on a pallet, cantilever puts it on an open face the forklift reaches in one move.
