PALLET FLOW
RACKING
Gravity-powered FIFO storage with automatic stock rotation. Pallets load at one end and flow to the pick face — perfect for perishables, pharmaceuticals, and date-sensitive inventory.
Why PALLET FLOW RACKING?
The Problem
Your date-sensitive inventory is expiring on the shelves because older stock gets buried behind newer deliveries. Manual rotation is labor-intensive and error-prone. Expired product means waste, compliance risk, and lost revenue.
Why It Gets Worse
In food, beverage, and pharmaceutical operations, FIFO isn’t optional — it’s regulated. Manual compliance requires dedicated labor, constant auditing, and still misses rotations. Every expired pallet is product cost, disposal cost, and potential regulatory action.
The Solution
Pallet flow racking automates FIFO rotation with gravity. Load pallets at the back; they roll to the pick face automatically. First in is always first out — no manual rotation, no expired stock, no compliance gaps. Speed controllers and braking systems ensure safe, controlled flow at any lane depth.

Industry Applications
Food & Beverage
Automatic FIFO rotation ensures oldest product ships first. Eliminates expired stock and meets food safety regulations.
Pharmaceutical
Date-coded inventory automatically rotated for regulatory compliance. Eliminates manual rotation errors and audit findings.
Assembly Line Staging
Parts and components flow to the production line automatically. Replenish from the back without interrupting the pick face.
High-Volume Distribution
High-throughput operations with rapid pallet turnover. Separate load and pick aisles reduce congestion and increase safety.
Why Choose 416 Industrial
Automatic FIFO Compliance
Gravity does the work. First pallet loaded is always the first pallet picked. Zero manual rotation, zero compliance gaps.
Eliminate Expired Stock
Date-sensitive inventory is automatically rotated without human intervention. Reduce waste, avoid recalls, pass every audit.
Separate Load & Pick Aisles
Loading happens at the back, picking at the front. No forklift congestion, no workflow conflicts, maximum throughput.
Zero Energy Cost
Gravity-powered rollers require no electricity, motors, or compressed air. The system runs itself with zero operating cost.
Frequently Asked Questions
Pallets sit on inclined roller conveyors with a 3–5% pitch. Gravity moves pallets from the load end to the pick face. Centrifugal or magnetic brakes control speed so pallets arrive gently at the pick position. No motors or electricity required.
Standard configurations support 2–20 pallets deep. Depth depends on pallet weight, roller type, and speed control requirements. Deeper lanes require more precise brake calibration. We engineer each system for your specific load profile.
Standard full pallet flow handles 1,500–3,000 lbs per pallet. Custom engineering can accommodate up to 4,000 lbs. Case flow/carton flow handles up to 150 lbs per carton. Heavier loads require heavier-duty rollers and stronger braking systems.
Pallet flow systems need periodic roller inspection, brake adjustment, and lane alignment checks. We recommend quarterly inspections for high-use systems. Rollers may need replacement after 5–7 years of heavy use. Overall maintenance is minimal compared to powered systems.
Pallet flow costs more per lane than drive-in or push-back due to the roller conveyor components. However, the labor savings from automated FIFO rotation and the reduction in expired product typically delivers ROI in 6–18 months for perishable operations.
