How to measure a box
Box sizes are inside dimensions, always written length × width × depth.
1. Read the size in order
A box listed as 18 × 12 × 12" is 18" long, 12" wide and 12" deep, measured on the inside. Measure your item the same way: longest side first, then the other side of the base, then the height.
2. Leave room for padding
- Sturdy items: a snug fit, with just enough space to close the flaps without bulging.
- Fragile items: about 2" of space on every side for bubble or paper fill. Add 4" to each measurement.
3. Pick the board strength
| Board | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Single wall (32 ECT) | Most boxed goods and parcel shipping |
| Double wall | Heavier contents, or boxes stacked high on a pallet |
| Triple wall | Bulk bins like gaylord boxes on a pallet |
ECT (edge crush test) tells you how much stacking pressure the board takes. A higher number is stronger. Tell us the weight of a packed box and we’ll suggest a board.
4. Order by the bundle
Boxes come flat in bundles, and the bundle size is shown on each product. Volume pricing is listed where it applies.
